Ipoh and Pregnancy
as some of you might have already know... I'm pregnant. I'm facing with a rather minor problem though. I'm currently looking for the best Obstetrician in Ipoh. I dunno any ipoh ladies with children who would have lotsa ideas on this matter so I was hoping that you lots will be able to help me. Also.. since this is my first pregnancy.. I would like to know any tips.. what to eat/ not eat, do /not do, evidence based or not.. I'd like to know.. I'm also wondering if there's any ipoh fella/ipoh fella's wife who's also bearing a child at this moment
so far I found out that there are no birth giving/ pregnancy related class held in ipoh.. I think it is true but it's hard for me to accept the fact coz I'd really like to drag my hubby into such classes..

Congrats to BBR!
I thought it's gynae for the pregnancy stage and obstetrician for after birth. Anyway, the same specialist covers both.
You may like to try Dr Ng Ngee Kheng of Fair Park whose clinic is opposite the BMW showroom and next to the big tyre shop in Fair Park.
Drink plenty of soya bean milk if you want you kid to be fairer or kopi-o if you want your kid to be darker.

Congratulations, BBR! I think Fatimah Hospital does have pre-natal classes. I remember attending a few of them for my 1st kiddo.

My cousin and sister in law both gave birth recently. The doctor in Ipoh Specialist Centre is supposed to be pretty good. Don't know the name though.
CONGRATULATIONS too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have many married female colleagues . So, I have an idea who are the best gynae& ob doctors around Ipoh.
So far the best I've heard of :-
1. Ipoh Specialist Centre - Nagara, Adlan, Teoh & Usha group of gynae &
ob. Best recommended Dr in the group - Dr Adlan
2. Dr Divakaran (ISC also)
Comments that I heard - careful, nice & friendly doctor
3. There is one new Malay lady gynae doctor in ISC too (forgotten the
name) You can check it out, if you prefer lady doctor.
ISC tel. no. : 2418777
Hope this is helpful for you. A big Congratulations to you & your hubby.

So far I've also heard that the best is Dr. Adlan, and since it's coming from a lot of mouths so I conclude that he is probably the best. I know Dr Diva, but he was my lecturer in college so I dun really like the idea of having my ex-lecturer looking up my yoohoo.. ehehheheheh
I have found out that the new additional team of obs n gynae in ISC is Dr Sharifah Halimah and I think I shall book for an appoinment with her. I'm pretty excited because all the while I thought I have no chance of getting a female doctor since all gynae specialist that i know of are male. It's like having my prayers answered.. hehe.
Thanks everyone for all your well wishes and tips and all the useful information. I think I'll go to fatima hospital to check out their pre-natal class if there isn't any in ISC.
I have been avoiding coffee (white/black) totally because i wanted a caffeine free pregnancy.. It was difficult the first week without coffee but thank god I manage to cope. BTW decaffeinated coffee SUCKS!!!
I also have been drinking at least half a cup of soya milk everyday eversince i have discovered a non sugar soya milk in Tesco. I really hate the sweetened one coz they usually over sweeten them. Again.. keep the tips/info coming if there's more!!

BBR,
Congratulations!!!!! So happy for you, too.
Oh, BTW I'll also tell you and others here that our daughter is also currently about 3 1/2 months pregnant. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No offense to you, but the general golden rule is -
Never consume alcohol or anything with caffein or smoke. In addition, try to avoid eating pineapples, watermelons and green beans.

congrat to u..and for some small info...my wive delivered all 5 dotter in ipoh general hospital!!! no problem whatso ever(despite some scary story and so on)
she told me that her experience at GH really contarary to what other been experienced over there.
but for u, i advice in getting lesson on how to deliver(especially on breathing tech and so on).
oh, remind ur husband...or shall i say, 'command' ur husband to be with u when the moment come...really worth it...
and yes...all those pantang really worth it-dont drink coffee, drink soy, dont climb ladder in last trimester, dont this..dont that-wisdom of old really worth trying for mother and soon to be 'bundle of joy'!(by the way, my wife really not observing those pantang...she accompanied me to reasearch trip somewhere in orang asli village during her final week of pregnancy, and got 'scold'' by their 'bidan.bomoh' for being so aggresive! but she got some really worthy tips from those bidan/bomoh!)
