Apply for the card which the bank would not charge you any annual fee.

All those points n rewards are not really worth much.
e.g 10,000points for an electric kettle.

Rebates are usually for spa, restaurants n hotels. These places which are not so popular or very expensive will offer rebates usually 10% or 15% discount and only for a certain period.

I suggest you don't apply for one until really necessary.

i use one of those association cards that my wife got for me .. no fees and points get converted to gift vouchers. I use cards to defer bills and pay it all off at the end of the interest free period. If a person cannot do that then they shouldn't get a card.

Thumbs down

Citibank cards are inconvenient for Ipoh folks. This is because there is no Citibank branch here. It is troublesome to make payment.

Hmmm, please correct me, if I'm wrong. I always thought people pay off their monthly statements either by check in the mail or online. No?

Pos Malaysia isn't exactly reliable. Online... not very convenient if you have to maintain a savings account that you can't deposit cash and cheques into without being at the mercy of Mr Postman or opening another bank account with online banking in order to send money to the Citibank account.

With all the modern infrastructures and the talk about becoming a developed country, reliable mail delivery and banking (including online) should be on top of their priority list.
