Default How much monthly?

I do that this type of thread has been done in the past and I do apologise for the annoyance.

A man/woman retired living in Ipoh, no EPF, how much will he/she need per month? I am not talking about a life of luxury, dining at Michelin star restuarant nightly nor am I talking about severe hardship. Lets just say the average Mr/Mrs Lee.

Per month, how much is needed?

1. House - no mortgage/rental
2. Meals - 3 meals per day, some in stalls, some kopitiam. No cooking at home at all. How much will that be monthly?
3. Electricity - how much?
4. Water - how much?
5. Door tax - n/a will be taken care off
6. Gas - applicable /not? Most probably not.
7. Income - none, no income, no EPF, etc
8. Petrol - Kancil, how much per month?
9. Road tax - n/a, will be taken care off
10. Car Insurance - n/a, will be taken care off
11. Household insurance -n/a, will be taken care off.

Have I missed anything else? Can someone give me some realistic figures?
Another thing - Kancil any 2nd value at all?

1. House - no mortgage/rental
2. Meals - i'd say average rm30/day for mr&mrs so, rm900/month
3. Electricity - if A/C everynight, and sometime during the day could reach RM150/month
4. Water - not expensive lah. if got garden needs watering everyday the most, RM20/month
5. Door tax - n/a will be taken care off
6. Gas - applicable /not? Most probably not. one huge gas cylinder probably can last for a couple of years if dun cook at home
7. Income - none, no income, no EPF, etc
8. Petrol - Go out to eat, buy groceries around ipoh, RM15/week.. so about RM60/month
9. Road tax - n/a, will be taken care off
10. Car Insurance - n/a, will be taken care off
11. Household insurance -n/a, will be taken care off.

in total.. should be RM1130/month for a comfortable life. cooking can save a lot...

other expenses to consider:
1. mobile phone/home phone/internet/broadband
2. cable tv
3. medical bills
4. pet care expenses - if got pets

Kancil 2nd value, depends on what year, mileage... always below rm10k

I remember this topic has been discussed a few times before on other threads. Anyone remembers the names of the threads so that we can retrieve them?

I remember we arrived at a figure of about RM4000 for a couple to have a comfortable life in Ipoh. Comfortable meaning being able to go on holidays occsasionally, drive a decent car, eat out during weekends, have enough for recreation and live in a comfortable house.

What's a good "living wage" for a married couple living in Ipoh? by OT. Might have been others, but i think this is the most recent

Kris & Kanden, RM4000 is a bit OTT. If you look at my questions carefully, you will have noticed that, it is a single person either a man or a woman, not a couple. The person already has/own a car and already lives in Ipoh.
A Kancil. Sorry but don't mean to be harsh, I just need some answers to specify questions.

1. House - no mortgage/rental.
2. Meals - i'd say average rm30/day, monthly RM900 (is that right for one person)
3. Electricity - if A/C everynight, and sometime during the day could reach RM150/month
4. Water - not expensive lah. if got garden needs watering everyday the most, RM20/month
5. Door tax - n/a will be taken care off

12. mobile phone/home phone/internet/broadband - mobile phone yes-currently on Digi, home phone-n/a, internet/broadband -n/a
13. cable tv - n/a
14. medical bills - n/a will be taken care off
15. pet care expenses - if got pets - n/a
16. Holidays - will be taken care off
17. Pocket money/lepak money/allowance- ??

that's for mr & mrs.. since u want estimation for a single.. then half lor..
RM450 monthly

12. if prepaid mobile my estimation would be RM50 a month. even if u dun really use up all RM50 in a month, the credit will expire and u still need to top up. RM50 is enough to chat with relatives once in a while.

Just for makan only may be OK lar.
Well, you can survive on that. Many people are still earning that type of income in fact.
What abt transport/petrol bills? Entertainment? Recreation? Personal items?

Kris, BBR had already included petrol bill for a kancil. REcreation as in holiday? That's a luxury extra.
Personal use item?

For most ppl, earning that sort of income is pretty norm in Ipoh. And like anyone anywhere their biggest outgoing is either rent/mortgage; take that away and everything else becomes pretty manageable.

Sorry, if I have not been really forthcoming. What I am trying to establish for a friend of mine, that lives in a similar small town, how much she needs to remit home to her PARENT (note I said singular not plural). The parent already owns and currently drives a Kancil, house is free and clear, holidays are exceptions that she will pay as and anything to do with the house in terms of door tax and insurances is paid by my friend. Her parent only have to pay for water and electricity. No internet connection or home phone, the parent uses a hand phone-digi and no Astro. Everything that has anything to do with the car like insurance and road tax will be dealt with by my friend, her parent only had to pay for petrol usage.
