Mt. Siguniang is actually a range of four mountains roughly translated as 'The Four Maidens' 130 km west of Chengdu. As it was just after the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, we took a roundabout way to Rilong town to avoid bad roads and it took us the better part of a day.

Rilong town is 3100m high with plenty of tasty goats!

The Four Maidens-from the left Mt Siguniang (6250m highest), Sanfeng, Erfeng and Dafeng

Our first day was spent doing an acclimatization trek to Haizigou another ridge/ river valley east of Rilong.

Outside the office, we need to pay for all trekking!

We could see Rilong below during this side trek

Beginning part of ascent, about 500m

Google Map of Haiziguo, we only walk 5 km as it was a practice walk

The first meadow. Road seen opposite was badly destroyed in the Sichuan quake

Yuan our chief porter. His stamina is out of this world!

The ridge continues all the way to Dafeng
