In an attempt to seize a part of the smartphone advertising market, Amazon has introduced a new ad platform for developers.
The new, unnamed service lets devs pay per click to promote their services on Android devices and Amazon tablets.
"We work with many developers to support merchandising and advertising across our platforms and devices," an Amazon spokeswoman told Bloomberg
. "We realized that many more developers would benefit from this advertising and merchandising."
Amazon did not immediately respond to PCMag's request for comment.
Amazon has less than a 1 percent share of the $28.7 billion U.S. mobile advertising industry, according to Bloomberg. Comparatively, Google
carries 35 percent, and Facebook
