Default House of Tandoor has the best tandoori chicken

I recently found a new Indian restaurant that opened up in Ipoh Jaya near the Mobil station right before the row of shophouses where Old Town is located. They are right beside the standard Mamak shop but the owner of the mamak shop decided to go high class with this House of Tandoor. They use real silverware and the decor is very nice. The staff there are also very friendly and nice. Most of them are from India including the chef.

We tried their tandoori chicken thinking it might be brought in from next door but to our surprise, the chicken is so so moist and tender and it's brought out on a hot plate. The taste of the chicken is out of this world and it's not dried out at all. If you order a full chicken, it comes out in 4 large thighs and legs. No breasts or wings though. You can order 1 quater, half or full. They have many other side dishes also, most of them good but a bit heavy on the spices. Seems very authentic to me. For dessert, they recommended a really exotic dish called something halva. It's carrot mashed into a paste and mixed with nuts and milk. Very delicious but need to share as it's very rich. Goes good with vanilla ice cream.

They also have a set lunch for $10 a person. Haven't tried that yet. So far, I've been there twice and very impressed with their service and food. Do give it a try if you're around that area next time or craving some good Indian food without burning a hole in your pocket. Prices are reasonable averaging $30-$40 for 2-3 people.

And the cleanliness of their bathroom gets an A from me!

From Pantai Puteri Hospital turn into Tiger Lane. Turn left when you reach the next set of traffic lights. Go straight pass another few traffic lights. It should be right before or after the Mobil Service Station.

That's along Dairy Road (Jalan Raja Musa Mahadi) just after the turning to Ampang New Village on the left hand side as you come from Taman Cempaka. That area is considered Ampang and not Ipoh Jaya which is on the opposite side of the road.
